About

Biography

I’m a frontend software engineer based in Los Angeles, CA. My pronouns are he/him. I am married with five children and two cats. When I’m not coding, I am usually watching a movie, listening to a book, or spending time with my family.

Professional Journey

My interest in computers started in 1995 when my dad and I installed Windows 95 from dozens of disks. Getting the internet was magical.

When it came time to choose a career, my dad suggested that I go to computer school, because “computers aren’t going anywhere.” While in school, I had a programming class in Visual Basic. From that point on, I was hooked. I spent all of my free time programming until I got my first job as a webmaster.

I’ve worked at many companies, both large and small, including startups and gigantic corporations. I’ve also spent some time working in FAANG. The most pivotal point in my career was when I got a call from NASA to work at JPL.

Engineering Philosophy

I believe software should be as simple as possible, both in terms of code and UI. My biggest pet peeve is over-abstraction.

Interests & Hobbies

I’m an avid reader (or listener). I especially enjoy horror and science fiction. The same goes for movies. I often geek out on classic computing papers or books.

The design of this website is inspired by the line-mode browser, released in 1992. The line-mode browser allowed users to follow links by typing a link number into a prompt and pressing enter. To scroll a page, users could press . Pages were rendered with green text on a dark background as displayed on a CRT monitor. Pretty cool!
